    Filling the Gap Between University and Industry
    As Lead Academy Trainer, I created and led MPC’s immersive 16-week onboarding program designed to bridge academic learning with professional VFX production. Directed hands-on, production-simulated training that integrated mentorship, live dailies, and feedback from industry professionals to cultivate technical and artistic proficiency in environment and matte painting artists.

    Discovering New Talent

    In addition to developing and leading the 3DDMP and Environments MPC Academy, I was responsible for recruiting its participants. I conducted university visits and promotional webinars to identify and attract emerging artists, introducing them to the opportunities available through the program.

    I personally interviewed applicants, evaluated their portfolios, and selected candidates for consideration. Final recommendations were then presented to the Heads of Department for approval, ensuring that each cohort comprised talented, motivated artists ready to succeed in a professional studio environment.

    Real Training Results

    In the MPC Academy, my goal was to create a studio-simulated training experince where each artist works on their own shots and assets, following real production workflows with daily reviews and rounds.  At the end of the program, the artists’ work was compiled into a demo reel showcasing their work.

    The reel was reviewed by 38 VFX professionals from 15 major studios, including ILM, Weta Digital, Fuel FX, Imagine Engine and Walt Disney. Every reviewer said they would interview these artists, confirming the Academy’s success in preparing them for junior-level roles in the industry.

    Contracted by Framestore to design and deliver a remote, studio-integrated onboarding program for junior Environment and 3DDMP artists—bridging academic gaps and building production-ready skills.
    Framestore Launchpad Pro is a fully remote, 10-week onboarding program designed to bridge the gap between university education and studio expectations for junior Environment and 3DDMP artists. Developed and delivered by VFX Horde in close collaboration with Framestore’s Heads of Department, the program combined custom-built training content, VFX Horde’s proprietary courses and assets, and real-world pipeline experience. Through hands-on tasks, project-based learning, and a tailored LMS environment, Launchpad Pro equipped trainees with the technical, artistic, and professional skills needed for immediate integration into Framestore’s global teams.
